First foreign aircraft reaches MIHAN-SEZ for maintenance

M/s Air India Engineering Services Limited (AIESL), MIHAN-SEZ, has recently entered into a contract with Kuwait Airways for the repair and maintenance of a total of four aircraft. This marks another milestone for MIHAN as Nagpur proudly welcomed its first aircraft of Kuwait Airways on September 15, 2023. The first of these Kuwait Airways Boeing 777 aircraft is currently undergoing advanced-level maintenance procedures at MIHAN-SEZ. Upon completion of the maintenance process, the aircraft is scheduled to depart on October 1. The same day, two more aircraft are expected to arrive, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, by ferry flight. The remaining aircraft are anticipated to arrive within a span of 15-20 days. The Air India MRO has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval. With this approval, the C-check procedure of the aircraft will be carried out.
 
While talking to The Hitavada with the Development Commissioner, MIHAN-SEZ, Dr V Sraman said, “This is another feather in the cap for MIHAN. With this significant development, it is expected that these aircraft will be first of many foreign aircraft to choose MIHAN-SEZ as their destination for maintenance and repair”. Dr V Sraman also said, “This achievement signifies not only the growth of our SEZ but also the trust that global aviation players are placing in our capabilities. We are committed to providing world-class services and facilities. We look forward to welcoming more international partners in the future. MIHAN-SEZ is poised to become a hub for aviation maintenance and repair in the region.”
 
AIESL MRO depot, MIHAN-SEZ has been issued Letter of Approval dated September 1,2010, under the SEZ scheme for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of aircraft and ancillary allied and incidental services (Aircraft MRO), maintenance, repair, overhaul, and testing of aircraft engines (Engines MRO), warehousing/parking of aircraft, helicopters, and engines at Plot No. 1, Sector-9, MIHAN Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Nagpur. The unit commenced its operations on August 27, 2015.
