SHIVAJI Nagar Gymkhana (SNG) hoopsters scored a double after their both girls and boys’ teams clinched titles in the invitational basketball tournament. After the girls won the title on Friday evening, the boys followed suit and made a remarkable comeback late in the night to emerge champions. In the final, SNG rallied to stun hosts Nutan Bharat Yuvak Sangh (NBYS) in a close encounter 44-43. Chitraksh Garge scored 12 baskets for the winner while Ojas Deshpande was the highest scorer for NBYS with 11 baskets. SNG always played the chasing game and remained behind NBYS in three quarters. They started poorly as they lost the first quarter 8-14. The second quarter too went to NBYS 10-5. The third quarter too was won by the hosts team 14-11. However, the turnaround came in the last quarter when SNG showed remarkable comeback. They found the mojo back and when the hosts team got overconfident, SNG boys started scoring points. They stretched the lead and in the process won the quarter 20-5 and subsequently the title by a single point.
