Seven suspected suicides rock city in a single day

Depression and liqour appear to be major reason behind these incidents 
 
Bhopal police registered seven cases of suicide, all by hanging, within a span of 24 hours. Police said among the deceased was a 28-year-old woman who was fed up of her drunkard husband. Besides, two of the deceased were men with some mental health issues. Piplani police said Lalita Kushwaha was a resident of Anand Nagar. Her husband Maan Singh is a drunkard and she would often object to his drinking habits. On Friday night her husband returned home drunk, said police. Lalita’s elder sister Rani lives on ground floor of the building where Lalita lived, said police. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rameshwar Singh said that the woman was talking to her sister Rani on Friday evening when Maan Singh came home drunk. The couple had a fight over the issue after which Rani returned to her home. Lalita then locked herself up in a room while Maan Singh stayed outside in inebriated state, said the cop. After nearly an hour, Singh realised that Lalita had not opened the door. He started knocking the door but to no avail, said the ASI. Later, he peeped inside to find her hanging after which Singh alerted others, said the cop. The woman’s body was brought down and it was then sent for post-mortem. Piplani police have registered a case and have initiated probe into the incident. In the second incident, a 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide when his family members were away. Bajaria police said Mahesh Ahirwar was a resident of Vijay Nagar. He was an auto driver while his wife works in a school.
 
His mother also works as sanitation worker in a state run hospital, said police. On Friday afternoon, Ahirwar was alone at home when he allegedly ended life. His grandmother lives nearby and she had reached him for some work. She tried to contact him but he did not repsond. The woman then knocked the door and then alerted the neighbours as her knocks evoked no response. The neighbours then peeped inside to find the man hanging. Bajaria police have registered a case and have initiated probe into the incident. In the third incident, a 21-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide when his family members were asleep in his home. Police said that the youth was identified as Karan Wankhede, a resident of Baghmugaliya. The Bagsewaniya police said Karan’s lived with his father, mother and a younger brother. He was undergoing treatment for mental health issues, says head constable Mansa Ram. The cop said that Karan’s father is a labourer. Karan was jobless and would stay at home, said the police. On late Thursday night the family members found him hanging from the ceiling of the house. They brought him down and rushed the youth to hospital. The doctors in AIIMS admitted him as he was breathing and there were chances of recovery. Unfortunately, he died on Friday night. Ram said that the family members have shown his prescriptions that suggest he was undergoing treatment for mental health issues.
 
The Bagsewaniya police have registered a case into the incident. In fourth incident, 60-year-old Jagram Singh was found hanging in his home in Kamla Nagar area on Friday. Singh was a resident of Shabri Nagar and was a security guard. He had been ailing for some times, said the Kamla Nagar police. Singh had retired at forest guard, said police. On Friday night his family spotted him hanging after which they brought him down. The cops were informed and a case was registered.The body was sent for postmortem later. In fifth incident, a 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicde by hanging self in his home in Teela Jamalpura area. Police said Somnath lived with his family near Indira Nagar area while his parents live in Teela Jamalpura in a rented accomodation. Somnath went to his mother on Friday but she had left for market at the time. His father was also not around, said assistant sub inspector (ASI) Ganesh Dehariya. He said that when his parents returned they found him hanging. ASI Dehariya said that Somnath was a drunkard and lived with his wife and a daughter alone.
 
The cause of his extreme step will be investigated, said the cop. In sixth incident, a 35-year-old man was found hanging in his home in Vajpayee Nagar on Friday. The deceased Sunil lived alone in the house after death of both his parents, said police. SHO Shahjahanabad UPS Chouhan said that his neighbors found a foul smell emanating from the flat. They informed police after which the cops broke open the door to find him hanging, said Chouhan. He said that Sunil worked with one Tauheed who informed his sister. His sister lives in Chhola area and she had reached the scene on Friday. SHO Chouhan said that Sunil had reortedly consumed liqour very heavily, recently. He was not married, said police. The body had decomposed and it appears that he had hanged himself on Thursday or Wednesday, said chouhan. Earlier, a 20-year-old youth had hanged himself in his home in TT Nagar on Friday. Besides, a 27-year-old youth was found dead in his flat at Ayodhya Nagar on Friday. The cause of his death is suspected to be a heart attack. Ayodhya Nagar police are investigating the case.
