Pilot emphasised the party’s commitment to strengthening its presence in every block to secure success in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Addressing a press conference at the state Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan, Pilot said that winning candidates would be nominated for the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh, with the final selection to be determined by the party in the near future. He underlined the importance of this strategic move to ensure a strong Congress representation in the region. Pilot also shared details about the upcoming Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, set to commence from Manipur on January 14 and concluding in Mumbai on March 20.
This nationwide journey, initiated by former Congress National President Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to traverse 14 states, including Chhattisgarh, where it will travel for five to six days. Pilot assured that preparations for the Nyay Yatra were well under way. During his two-day maiden visit to Raipur as the Chhattisgarh Congress In-charge, Pilot stated that the executive body of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) convened at Rajiv Bhawan, delved into various topics, including preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, arrangements for the Nyay Yatra, and an analysis of the party’s performance in the recent assembly elections. Responding to questions regarding the BJP’s allegations about the Congress boycotting the consecration ceremony of the Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, Sachin Pilot emphasised the separation of religion and politics. He accused the BJP of politicising the Shri Ram Mandir consecration ceremony for political gains and reiterated that the BJP should not judge individuals as ‘good Hindus’ or ‘bad Hindus.’ The press conference was attended by prominent leaders, including Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Dr Charan Das Mahant, CPCC President Deepak Baij, and other key figures from the Congress party.
