A national seminar on ‘Green Mining Initiatives - Indian Mineral Industry Perspective’ was conducted by The Indian Mines Manager Association (IMMA), Nagpur Chapter, to address and promote sustainable practices within the mining sector. The event brought together industry experts, Government officials, and key stakeholders to deliberate on environmentally conscious approaches in mineral extraction. Inaugurating the seminar Dr Subhash Chaudhari, Vice Chancellor of RTM Nagpur University said that the increasing demand for minerals and resources, it becomes imperative to strike a balance between development and environmental preservation as the traditional mining methods have often left scars on the environment, causing deforestation, soil erosion, air, and water pollution. Manoj Kumar, CMD, WCL said that cutting-edge technologies designed to reduce the environmental impact of mining activities are required to be introduced in mining sector.
 
Ajit Kumar Saxena, CMD, MOIL, said that mineral industry has been in fore front since a long time to adopt sustainable practices due to regulatory provisions which are existing since British regime. The seminar focused on the pressing need for green mining initiatives in the Indian mineral industry, emphasizing responsible and sustainable practices. Dr Manoj Tiwari , Organizing Secretary of the seminar, presented the details about themes, paper presenters and participating organisations. R C Sanodia welcomed the guests, Diwakar Gokhale, President IMMA (Nagpur Chapter) conducted the proceedings of the function and Tarun Shrivastave, Convener, proposed the vote of thanks.
