A two-day cultural festival, Sankranti Mahotsav-2024 will be organised at MVM Ground, which will start with a special kite festival on January 14, which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, under this on January 14 in the morning at 10 o’clock, on the occasion of Sun’s entry into Capricorn, local ministers, MLAs, public representative officials etc. will offer ‘Arak’ to the Sun God, after which a family Haldi Kumkum program will be organised in which women will wear traditional clothes and apply ‘Haldi Kumkum’ to each other, along with this ‘Kite flying’ will be held by kite flyers. On this occasion, a special big size giant kite will be flown by artists specially brought from Gujarat. Kites from 5 to 25 feet, kites of cartoon, lion and different shapes will be flown by professionals.
In the programme, there will be demonstration of Malkhamb, Gidda and Bhangra, Aero Modeling for youth and students, training on Aeronautic Science and demonstration of making live aero model, self-employed women entrepreneurs, sale of products of SHG Women Group. Stalls will be set up, women run food stalls, Til Jaggery special food fest and local dishes will also be there, district level kite flying competition, tourists will be taken around by traditional tanga riders using local kites, local games like Shitolia, Snake Ladder, Chaughar , Gilli Danda, etc. will be kept as exhibition. There will be a Lohri program in the evening in which cultural programmes will be organised with bonfire, the fair will be concluded on January 15. Kites and string will be available at the venue for kite flying lovers. Anyone who wants to fly a kite will get the opportunity, along with this there will also be skilled trainers who will teach the tricks of kite flying.
