Re-densification projects get nod from MiC to strengthen financial condition

A number of significant decisions regarding city development were taken during an important meeting of the Mayor in Council held, on Monday. During the meeting, the M-i-C approved the proposal aiming to implement re-densification projects in compliance with state government directives. This will strengthen the financial condition of the municipal corporation while giving needed push to city’s development initiatives. The proposals were prepared in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Madhya Pradesh government. Upon approval of these proposals, consultants will be appointed for the execution of the projects and the bidding process will be initiated. The streamlined process ensures that development projects proceed smoothly and there will not be any hindrance due to financial constraints.
 
In another significant decision taken during the meeting, the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation is set to receive a grant of Rs 204 crores from the central government. M-i-C members informed that Jabalpur has been selected as one of the 18 cities among the 100 Smart Cities in the country. The approved grant will be utilized to establish an efficient and transparent Solid Waste Management system for the general public. With the implementation of the system, residents will witness door-to-door waste collection, processing and disposal services. Likewise, the Municipal Corporation will receive a grant of Rs 135 crores under the proposal. The fund will be utilized to enhance the city’s cleanliness and beauty, providing the citizens with the gift of a clean city. Moreover, eight lease transfer cases were approved and under the Madhya Pradesh Property Tax Rules 2020, the proposal to merge ward no. 79, under the jurisdiction from Zone 4 to Zone 6, was also approved, benefiting the taxpayers.
 
The Mayor-in-Council meeting also gave nod to proposals naming play ground near Pollution Control Board office after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, park in Vijay Nagar after Maharaja Veer Shivaji, square near Maharashtra High School after Advocate Jamuna Prasad Agrawal and naming a square as Sanatan Chowk. Later the Mayor reviewed various issues related to the development of the city including initiatives for Tigar Safari, Nakshtra Garden, Bird Sanctuary, transforming the Municipal Market into Pink Market with solar panels, beautification of crossings, planting 1,0,8000 trees, constructing Bharat Mata Temple and establishing the tallest national flag of Madhya Pradesh, providing employment to youth by setting up 500 Smart Milk Booths etc.
