State Public Works Department Minister Rakesh Singh, on Thursday conducted a meeting with senior officials of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and Geological Survey of India (GSI) in Bhopal to discuss establishment and project details of Geo Park in Lamhetaghat-Bhedaghat, Jabalpur. He sought detailed information about the entire project and gave necessary directives to senior officials. During the meeting, Singh said the country’s first Geo Park in Jabalpur will prove to be a milestone not only in geological structures but also in the study of human civilisation, tourism and cultural development. He said Bhedaghat-Lamhetaghat is globally known for geological activities. The PWD Minister directed officials to focus on making Geo Park and Museum attractive, impactful and educational. He asked to include information about Lamheta, Queen Durgavati, and also incorporate the cultural heritage of Jabalpur in the Museum. He also suggested promoting nature-based tourism in Geo Park, proposing creation of nature trails and nature-centric structures.
The selected agency presented the entire Geo Park project through a presentation during the meeting. It highlighted all constructions in Geo Park will maintain a close connection with nature and the architecture will be captivating. Structures will be built amidst thousands of trees, offering visitors a unique experience. The museum established in Geo Park will be of international standards, including modern technologies such as 3D modeling, thematic design, interactive touch tables etc. The museum will be divided into several sections catering to everyone from adults to children and scholars studying geological studies. It will feature nature walks through 5D films. Likewise, effective and educational information about Madhya Pradesh’s geography and culture, river Narmada’s geological legacy, Earth exploration, double planets and the journey to the Earth’s center will be presented through interactive and 3D modeling. In the museum, 13 geographical regions of Madhya Pradesh will be presented in a very attractive manner along with their geographical-cultural importance and heritage.
A huge replica of a dinosaur will be created in Geo Park and an attractive nature walk will be developed for visitors to feel connected with the nature. Along with that, Geo Park will house a state-of-the-art food court, shopping complex, etc with a focus on active participation of local community. Geo Park will be developed on 12 hectares of land and the Tourism Department will oversee its establishment. A meeting to further discuss preparations for Geo Park will be held soon at the selected place in Jabalpur. Representatives from Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and Geological Survey of India also attended the meeting, with Collector Deepak Saxena participated through video-conferencing.
