Tehsil Police have arrested five saleswomen working with Chimurkar Brothers Jewellers in Itwari, Sarafa Bazar, and recovered stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 86 lakh from their possession. The ornaments were stolen by the women while working in the jewellery shop, police said. The accused have been identified as Asmita Prakash Lute (39), Priya Pranav Raut (30), Puja Rajaram Bhanarkar (20), Kalyani Manoj Khadatkar (33), Bhagyashree Pavan Indhankar (30) and Manisha Omprakash Mohurle (38). Asmita, Priya, Puja, Kalyani and Bhagyashree have been arrested by the police.
 
DCP Zone III Gorakh Bhamre said, the complainant Shantu Deepak Chimurkar (28) had informed that the saleswomen committed the theft between 2019 and August 30, 2023. After registering the case under Sections 381 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the police launched an investigation and recovered stolen valuables from their possession.
Under the guidance of DCP Bhamre, the arrest was made by PI Vinod Patil, PI Sandip Buwa, PSI Sadashiv Kanse, and staff including Sanjay Shahu, Sandip Gawali, Shekhar Samudre, Rohidas Jadhav, Vaibhav Kulsange, Kunal Korche, Vaibhav, Sarla, Pranjali, Jyoti, Bhavna, Sunita, Bhamle, Mishra, Nirmala and others.
