Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has plans to erect 150 charging stations throughout the city to keep pace with rapid increase of electric vehicles (EVs). Stating this, Dr Abhijeet Choudhary, Municipal Commissioner, said that the civic body was committed to providing supportive environment to cut down on emission of gases that were harmful to environment. He was speaking at City EV Escalator workshop and emphasised commitment to clean energy sources.
Dr Choudhary further said that NMC was phasing out polluting public vehicles in its bus fleet and replacing them with induction of electric vehicles.
 
As per the prediction, by 2025, there would be widespread proliferation of EVs and hence to ensure that citizens do not face inconvenience, all the agencies are working with NMC to roll out electric charging stations. Anchal Goyal, Additional Municipal Commissioner, said in this regard that NMC and Maha Metro were planning to appoint a Nodal Officer for integrating their public transport services.
