Severe cold condition has returned to Madhya Pradesh as people are shivering with temperature below normal mark, dense fog and cold waves in most parts of State. Sunday morning started with dense fog in Bhopal, Datia, Satna and Tikamgarh. Cold wave bothered people throughout the day in these cities. Visibility was recorded below 50 meters. Apart from State capital, Gwalior, Bhind, Narmadapuram, Raisen, Vidisha and a few other cities recorded low visibility due to fog and hazy weather.
Temperature dipped below 10 degree Celsius in most of cities of State and five cities recorded minimum temperature below five degree Celsius. Datia remained the coldest city with minimum temperature 3.2 degree Celsius. Even day temperature in Datia remained 13.6 degree Celsius. Gwalior recorded minimum temperature 4.1 degree Celsius and maximum temperature 15.8 degree Celsius. Bhopal recorded coldest night of the season on Saturday- Sunday night with minimum temperature 7.4 degree Celsius. Earlier, on December 20, 2023 night temperature was recorded as lowest 8.8 degree Celsius. For the first time in this season, Indore recorded temperature 10 degree Celsius during night hours. Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) has released warning of extreme cold conditions in the State for Monday as well. Northern winds affected the weather condition of State on Sunday.
Various cities observed cold waves and cold day. Minimum temperature in Datia was recorded as 3.2 degree Celsius, Gwalior 4.1 degree Celsius, Sagar 4.7 degree Celsius, Guna 4.8 degree Celsius and Rajgarh 4.4 degree Celsius. Minimum temperature in Bhopal was recorded as 7.4 degree Celsius, Indore 9.0 degree Celsius, Gwalior 4.1 degree Celsius, Jabalpur 8.0 degree Celsius and Ujjain 8.8 degree Celsius.Weather scientists said that “Z stream” has increased speed of wind by 200 to 250 kmph and western disturbance is active as well. Northern winds is making situation of cold day and cold waves throughout the State.
