Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade chaired a meeting of the jury formed to select eligible boys and girls for the State Bravery Award for the year 2023-24. Four boys were shortlisted for the Bravery Award.
The meeting took place at the new rest house Atal Nagar Nava Raipur. On this occasion, Pratappur MLA Shakuntala Singh Porte, Secretary of the Department of Women and Child Development, Shammi Abidi, IG ML Kotwani, and Director of the Department of Women and Child Development Tulika Prajapati, were present.
Rajwade said that the Chhattisgarh Government provides the State Bravery Award to the state’s children for their exceptional bravery, courage, and intelligence. This award will be given to boys and girls on the upcoming January 26. After receiving proposals and examinations from the decision-making body, a unanimous decision was made to select 4 boys for the State Bravery Award. Among them are Arnav Singh, son of Suresh Kumar Singh, from Surguja district, Om Upadhyay, son of Neeraj Upadhyay, from Durg district, Premchand Sahu, son of Sukhdev Sahu, and Master Lokesh Kumar Sahu, son of Sukhnandan Sahu, both from Raipur district.
The selected boys for the State Bravery Award will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a certificate of commendation.” It is noteworthy that 16-year-old Arnav Singh is currently studying in class 11. He bravely saved three people and a security guard from a fierce fire at the dumping yard. Similarly, 16-year-old Om Upadhyay is studying in class 10. He courageously fought with a dog, saving children from a dog attack. 9-year-old Premchand Sahu is studying in class 4 and 13-year-old Lokesh Kumar Sahu is studying in class 7. They both showed courage by rescuing a drowning child in the water in Champaran.”
