Significant decisions taken Green signal to Chhattisgarh Excise Policy for FY 2024-25

The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mantralaya, Nava Raipur, has taken significant decisions, including the approval of the Chhattisgarh Excise Policy for the financial year 2024-25. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, addressing the media after the meeting, disclosed that one key decision is the unanimous agreement not to open any new liquor shops in the state. Furthermore, the cabinet green lit the draft of the Governor’s address for the upcoming second session of the sixth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, scheduled for February and March.
The draft of the Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill-2024 was also approved for presentation in the Assembly, covering the third supplementary estimate year 2023-2024 and the budget estimate year 2024-25. Notably, the Cabinet endorsed the Chhattisgarh Civil Court (Amendment) Bill-2024. This amendment introduces crucial changes, such as elevating the position of ‘District Judge’ to ‘Chief District Judge’ and transforming ‘Additional District Judge’ into ‘District Judge.’
Additionally, it replaces ‘Family Judge First Class’ with ‘Family Judge Senior Category’ and ‘Family Judge Second Class’ with ‘Family Judge Junior Category.’ The amendment also substitutes ‘District Court’ with ‘Principal District Court.’ Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao announced that the Cabinet has approved the creation of five posts of Joint Registrar (M) in the High Court Bilaspur, utilising funds from the contingency fund.
