NAGPUR Customs Commissionerate has celebrated International Customs Day 2024 on Saturday. The World Customs Organisation (WCO) has selected this years theme ‘Customs Engaging Traditional and New Partner with Purpose’ and Customs Commissionerate Nagpur has organised it at GST Bhawan Nagpur, which was inaugurated by Sanjay Kumar, Commissioner Nagpur Customs.
Charanjeet Singh, Assistant Commissioner in his welcome note presented the history of Customs functioning and development over the years. He also highlighted major achievement of Nagpur Customs Commissionerate such as revenue increase upto the December month, disposal of 6,500 plus provisional assessment, timely sanctioning of drawback claims by formations and recovery of arrears Rs 20 crore against the previous year’s Rs 2 crore.
Charanjeet Singh also congratulated all the officers for major achievements.
Commissioner Sanjay Kumar showed great pleasure that so many stakeholders are present in the celebration of International Customs Day, 2024. He also shared his experience in the field of Customs. He urged the stakeholders to be candid in their problems and suggestions.
Additional Commissioner, Peeyoush Bhati formally welcomed all Customs officers, members of trade, office bearers of clearing house agents (CHA) associations, senior level officers of other departments associated with Customs and other stakeholders.
He also briefed on history of Customs working, coorperation at international level by Customs department and highlighted contribution of Customs officers in facilitating EXIM trade.
He also highlighted the recent key initiatives taken by Customs for enhancing trade facilitation in line with the action plan for implementing the trade facilitation. The performance of the Nagpur Customs was also discussed during the event.
The International Customs Day, 2024 celebration was attended by more than 50 importers, exporters, customs brokers, custodians, shipping lines, senior level officers of other departments associated with Customs and other stakeholders.
