Many
officers
out of
the race, Process to appoint DGP starts
Due to the new rules of the selection process of Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP), many officers will be out of the race.
The current DGP Sudhir Saxena is retiring in the month of November. As per the instructions of the Supreme Court, the DGP will be appointed for a minimum
of two years.
Director General of Police (DGP) Sudhir Saxena is retiring next month. Preparations are on to set up a panel for appointment of a new DGP and send it to the UPSC.
The Home Department
has prepared the records of all the officers, eligible for
the post.
There are Central Government’s rules for the appointment of DGP.
So, the records related to CR of special DG-rank officers, information about their field posting, and their consent for taking over as DGP will be sent to UPSC.
Additional Chief Secretary S N Mishra has sent a letter to PHQ and asked for proposals from the claimants. In which they have been asked to send in the set proforma with consent. According to the new rules, the list of officers from these claimants will be sent to the Union Public Service Commission.
On the basis of records, UPSC will set up a panel consisting of three officers and send it to the State Government which may appoint one of the three officers as DGP. Under the new rules, only those officers whose service period is at least six months left will be sent to UPSC for the post of DGP. The current DGP, Sudhir Saxena is retiring in November.
Due to this, many officers like Shailesh Singh
of 1987 batch and Vijay Kataria of 1990 batch, who are retiring by January 2024, are out of the race. The names of Special DGs that will be sent to UPSC as a part of the further selection process.
Prominent among them are Arvind Kumar and Kailash Makwana of 1988 batch, Ajay Kumar Sharma, GP Singh and Sushma Singh of 1989 batch. Out of these names, UPSC will send a panel of names of three officers to the MP Government, and one of them will be finally selected. Arvind Kumar and G P Singh, officers of 1988 and 1989 batch respectively, are considered to be the main contenders for this post. According to sources, there is a possibility of consensus on the name of one of these officers.
