Cabinet nod to Rs 1,879 cr Kanhan riverdiversion scheme

State Cabinet, in its meeting held on Thursday, gave its nod to Kanhan river diversion scheme involving an expenditure of Rs 1,879.213 crore. Once completed, the scheme will result in provision of irrigation facilities to Saoner, Katol, Narkhed, and Kalmeshwar tehsils of Nagpur district. The decision was taken in the meeting chaired by Eknath Shinde, Chief Minister. The proposal was approved at the initiative of Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister. The scheme will extend irrigation benefits to 32,285 acres of land in the above-mentioned four tehsils of the district. The designed capacity of the scheme is 3.25 TMC of which 3.04 TMC is proposed to be utilised for irrigation and 0.03 TMC is proposed for meeting the requirement of drinking water. The scheme was originally conceived in 2016, and it was decided to give a push to the same.
 
Besides, it was decided in the State Cabinet meeting held on Thursday in Mumbai to give administrative sanction to Dangurli high level weir in Gondia district. This project involving an estimated expenditure of Rs 395.48 crore, an area of 5,861 hectares will get irrigation benefits. The Cabinet also decided to implement the second phase of Nanaji Deshmukh Krishi Sanjeevani Prakalp, which was conceived at the initiative of Devendra Fadnavis. The Nod was also given to revised estimates of Rs 5,409.72 crore for Guruvarya Kai Laxmanraoji Inamdar lift irrigation scheme (Jihe Kathapur) in Satara district. This project will result in providing irrigation benefits to 32,937 hectares area.
 
Nagpur ITI named after Santaji Jagnade Maharaj
 
The State Cabinet also decided to name the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Nagpur after Sant Shri Santaji Jagnade Maharaj. Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister, moved a suggestion in this regard in the meeting. It was also decided to give a lumpsum subsidy of Rs 5,000/- to the construction workers registered with the Construction Workers’ Board. About 25 lakh construction workers will get the benefit of this decision.
