Working professionals, too, have opportunity to continue higher education

With a view to strengthen employability factor in students and increase use of advanced technology, Ramdeobaba University (RBU) has developed a digital platform. Through this platform the university will run value-added courses for its students as well as for other students too. Dr S S Mantha, Chancellor of RBU University, while interacting with mediapersons on Thursday in university, outlined the university’s commitment to advancing technical education and innovative initiatives in technology and engineering. The Chancellor emphasised the critical role that these play in preparing students for a rapidly evolving job market. He also emphasised that today’s skills have a shelf life and hence upskilling is of paramount importance.

RBU is among a few institutes focussing on personalised learning. “We will have collaborations with National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), IBM, Google, Oracle etc. With our collaborations we can get their special courses for our students, vice-versa. At present country’s Gross Enrollment Ratio of education sector is 27. If we want to increase the ratio then this platform is the option.” Prof Mantha explained that setting up a digital platform can easily meet the 50 GER requirement as envisaged under the NEP. The digital platform will be an asset to the State of Maharashtra by providing free education to all under privileged and massively create new employment opportunities, claimed Mantha. “RBU will also be creating an ecosystem modelled on the Fraunhofer Institutes, where the industry will be seamlessly connected with the academics of the university. The startup culture will get a boost with leading industry collaborations to provide students with hands-on experience through internships and co-op programs, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application. Chancellor Mantha highlighted several key initiatives currently underway at the University, such as Industry ready curriculum that includes fields such as AI, Robotics, Data Analytics, Green Energy and EV technologies, ensuring that students are at the forefront of industry trends.

“The University is launching one-year long certificate courses in ‘Sthapatya Ved’, a science of architecture that combines with Mathematics, Yoga-Sutra, Quantum Physics and Planetary and Earth Science and Vedic Mathematics to enhance the analytical skills of the students in addition to understanding the ancient knowledge systems,” elaborated Prof Mantha. There are working professionals who can’t be able to pursue higher education because of their working timing. RBU is giving them opportunity to do the higher education. While courses for the working professionals are being launched from the January 1, 2025, where both Bachelors and Masters Programs in Science, Engineering and Technology will be offered, they will even be able to complete their PhD program integrated with the Master’s Program. In its quest for quality, RB University is launching several new research centers dedicated to technology and engineering, focusing on sustainability, renewable energy, and smart technologies. These centers will provide students and faculty with opportunities to engage in groundbreaking research. The University’s Technical Business Incubation Foundation (TBI), a section 8 incubation company and innovation centre is one of its kind. The university currently has filed 365 utility patents, 191 design patents, 283 copyrights, out of which 240 patents are granted.
