Dhammachakra Pravartan Din Deekshabhoomi all set for grand ceremony

Deekshabhoomi is all set to host 68th Dhammachakra Pravartna Din, celebrated by Ambedkarite followers on Dusshera every year. The day is celebrated to mark Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar converting to Buddhism in 1956 at Deekshabhoomi. The city and district administration has made adaquate arrangements of lodging, water supply, public toilets, electricity supply, transportation and security around Deekshabhoomi for the visitors. The festivities of the 68th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din have already begun since October 10 with three-day ‘Dhammadiksha’ programme; flaghoisting of Panchasheel flag; and staging of dance and play (Anguilmal and Amrapali) along with musical programmes.
 
The festivities will conclude with main ceremony at 6 pm on Saturday, to be presided over by Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surei Sasai, President, Param Poojya Dr babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti. Bhadant A A A B Dyaneshwar, President, Bhikshu Sangha, Kushi Nagar (UP); and Akash Lama, General Secretary, All India Buddhist Forum, Siliguri (WB) will be present as chief guests of the programme. The festivities will begin in morning with Mass ‘Buddha Vandana’ by Bhadant Arya Nagarjun Surei Sasai followed with salute by Samta Sainik Dal. The followers have started to arrive in the city since October 10. The visitors also visit Dragon Palace in Kamptee and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial and Museum, Chicholi near Fetri, among other places.
