RAIPUR,

CHIEF Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has emphasized that Dussehra festival symbolises the triumph of truth over falsehood and good over evil, addressing a mammoth crowd at the WRS Colony grounds in Raipur on the occasion of Dussehra. Sai added while we annually commemorate the defeat of Ravana, the true significance lies in eradicating the Ravana within ourselves, embodied by vices like lust, anger, pride, and greed. The Chief Minister urged the people of Chhattisgarh, the birthplace of Mother Kaushalya and the maternal home of Lord Shri Ram, to pledge to collectively eliminate the evil Ravana residing within them.

He then pressed the remote button, igniting giant effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnath amidst the chants of Jai Shri Ram. Extending his greetings and best wishes for Vijayadashami, the Chief Minister highlighted the 53-year tradition of Ravana Vadh at WRS Colony. He underscored the special significance of this year’s event, coinciding with the installation of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya after 500 years. The Ravana Vadh program began in a traditional manner, featuring a staged retelling of the epic battle between Lord Ram and Ravana. The culmination was marked by the burning of the colossal Ravana effigy, accompanied by a vibrant fireworks and celebration. Following the event, people exchanged greetings and felicitations to mark Vijayadashami. Raipur North MLA Purandar Mishra also addressed the gathering, which was attended by thousands of people, including former MLA Kuldeep Singh Juneja, Jayanti Bhai Patel, Toshendra Deo Sai, Organizing Committee Chief G. Swami, Collector Gaurav Kumar Singh, SSP Santosh Singh, and other officials.
