A new connection has emerged in the drug bust case where Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had seized a huge cache of mephedrone (MD) drug manufacturing operation in the industrial area of Bhopal. This factory was reportedly involved in a massive drug trade spanning Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, with raw materials for MD drug production sourced from these states. The investigating agencies have now unveiled a Rajasthan connection to the drugs and have asked the local police to stay on high alert. As per information, drugs manufactured in Bhopal were primarily supplied to Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan, which served as a central distribution point. From there, the drugs were sent to various districts in Rajasthan and other states. NCB revealed this information following interrogation of the accused, leading them to alert Rajasthan police.

Based on NCB’s inputs, Rajasthan police started investigating the drug network within their jurisdiction and are likely to question the suspects further. Recently, Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and NCB raided Bhopal industrial area of Bagroda, seizing MD drugs and raw materials valued at approximately Rs1,814 crores. Arrested in connection with this case are Sanyal Bane from Nashik, Amit Chaturvedi from Bhopal, and Harish Anjana from Mandsaur. A fourth suspect, Premsukh Patil, surrendered to the police in Mandsaur on Friday. Sanyal, Amit and Harish are in police custody till October 14, undergoing questioning by the NCB. Further investigations revealed that Shoaib Lala from Mandsaur played a significant role as an intermediary between smugglers in Rajasthan and other states. Police are currently searching for him, as he is reported to be on the run. It is believed that Lala may have connections to additional networks involved in drug trafficking.
