Gangster Aman Sahu brought to Raipur amid tight security

Notorious gangster Aman Sahu was brought to Raipur from Jharkhand late on Sunday night under heavy police escort. The operation, conducted with the support of the Jharkhand Police, involved a 10-member team from Raipur who traveled to Giridih Jail, where Sahu was imprisoned. The Raipur team was accompanied by additional security forces, including officers armed with AK-47 rifles, to ensure a smooth and safe transfer. This perhaps for the first time a criminal has been brought to Raipur from another state under such stringent security protocols. Aman Sahu, a wanted criminal with dozens of cases registered against him, has been taken into custody on a production warrant and is currently being held at the Raipur Crime Branch office under close supervision. Given Sahu’s dangerous reputation and the potential risks associated with his transfer, the operation was executed with heightened security measures. The transfer preceded several legal challenges.

Local police had repeatedly sought production warrant from court to facilitate Sahu’s transfer but were unsuccessful in obtaining it earlier. However, the court eventually granted the warrant for Sahu and two of his associates, Vikram Singh and Akash Rai (also known as Monu). Sahu is the prime suspect in a brazen shooting incident that took place outside the office of a businessman in the Telibandha area of Raipur. Police have already arrested 12 members of his gang, including a female associate, in connection with the case. Police after bringing Aman Sahu to Raipur presented him in the court and sought his remand to further investigate the details of the shootout and gather additional information on the gang’s operations, which the court granted. Aman Sahu is a hardened criminal with numerous cases registered against him in Jharkhand. Known for his dangerous activities, his court appearances are mostly conducted virtually due to security concerns. The Giridih jail administration has frequently refused to send him for in-person hearings, citing risks to his life and the potential for violent incidents. On July 13 at around 11 a.m. two shooters, riding a Pulsar motorcycle, opened fire in the parking area outside the office of the PRA Group, a construction company, located near Telibandha police station.

The shots caused chaos, with the driver and employees of the businessman in the area rushing inside the office for safety. Responding to the gunfire, security personnel stationed at the office fired two to three rounds in return, but the masked assailants managed to flee the scene. The incident triggered a city-wide manhunt, with police setting up blockades in an attempt to apprehend the shooters. The bike used in the attack, bearing the registration number JH 01 DL 4692, was later found abandoned in the Telibandha area. In the wake of the shooting, a special task force was deployed to Jharkhand and Punjab to track down the suspects. This coordinated effort has so far led to the arrest of 12 persons involved in the crime, including key members of Aman Sahu’s gang. Rumors of a connection between Sahu and the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang have raised concerns about possible links to recent criminal activities in Chhattisgarh, including robberies and shootings. While the police have not confirmed these connections, they are investigating the matter. With Sahu now in Raipur’s custody, police are hopeful that his interrogation will yield more vital information about the gang’s activities and potentially prevent further criminal incidents concocted by his gang.
