SURAJPUR,

Surajpur has been rocked by a double murder as the wife and daughter of a head constable Talib Sheikh, posted at the local Kotwali police station, were found dead. The bodies were discovered in a field near a canal in Peerha village, approximately 5 kilometres from their residence. The gruesome crime has sent shockwaves through the police department, and police is investigating the matter after registering the case with Kuldeep Sahu as a potential suspect. According to information late on Sunday night Kuldeep Sahu entered the house of Head Constable Talib Sheikh, stationed at Surajpur police station, and brutally murdered his wife and daughter allegedly using a sword and knife. After committing the crime, it appears the perpetrators dragged the bodies and transported them using a vehicle, ultimately dumping them in a field near a canal, roughly five kilometers from the house. Head Constable Talib Sheikh lived near the ring road in Surajpur with his wife, Mehu Faiz, and 13-year-old daughter, Aaliya Sheikh. On the night of the attack, Talib was on duty for night patrol. When he returned home, he found his house covered in blood and his wife and daughter missing. Their bodies were discovered the next morning in a field five kilometers away. SSP M R Ahire and other high-ranking officers immediately rushed to the scene. A forensic team and a dog squad have been deployed to thoroughly examine the crime scene, which includes both the location where the bodies were found and the residence of Head Constable Talib Sheikh.

News of the gruesome murders quickly spread throughout the city, inciting widespread anger. Residents blocked roads in protest, demanding the harshest punishment for the accused. In retaliation, the enraged crowd set fire to Kuldeep Sahu’s house, with smoke billowing into the sky. Angry residents also resorted to arson in various locations after learning about the incident. In several places, old vehicles and scrap materials were set ablaze. When the furious mob chased the SDM, he had to flee to save his life. According to reports, Kuldeep Sahu is a known troublemaker in Surajpur, who has been terrorizing the area for days. Previously, he attempted to run over two police officers with his car. According to sources, Kuldeep was reportedly upset over the continuous actions taken by the police. His brother, Sandeep, had been arrested after allegedly pushing a man off a roof, and the police had also taken action against Kuldeep’s paternal uncle in a separate externment case. This appears to be the first instance in Surajpur where the family of a police officer has been targeted in such a brutal manner. Authorities are intensively searching for Kuldeep, and his vehicle has been seized near Latori village. Talking to The Hitavada, Surguja Range Inspector General of Police Ankit Garg stated that Kuldeep Sahu is the prime suspect, and further investigation is going on. The incident has caused widespread anger among the public, leading to the torching of Kuldeep Sahu’s residence in retaliation. Former Deputy Chief Minister T S Singhdeo has condemned the double murder in strong terms, criticizing the BJP for weakening law enforcement in the region.

He questioned why the government has not taken more serious action against rising crime and demanded answers on how long people will have to endure such inhumane acts. Baij slams CM: RAIPUR: State Congress President Deepak Baij has pulled up Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state over deteriorating law and order situation in State. In his statement, State Congress President Baij said that in Surajpur district, a police constable's wife and his daughter were brutally murdered. The criminal worked as a scrap dealer. The killings of the constable’s family members are the result of the BJP government’s negligence. The police raided his place and the criminal went straight to the policeman's house and killed his wife and daughter. Instead of reining in the criminals, the BJP government has become the protector of criminals, said Baij. Women, children and common people feel unsafe in the BJP rule in the state. Crimes are at peak in the BJP rule in the state in the last 10 months. A 50-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in the state capital. The BJP government has totally failed to stop crimes in the state. The State has converted into the hub of crimes in the BJP rule, said Baij. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai should dismiss Home Minister Vijay Sharma after the Surajpur incident, said Baij.
