On the instructions of Collector Dr Gaurav Singh, the Food Department conducted an investigation at a rice mill in Arang and seized paddy and rice. The action was taken against M/s Krishna Foods under the Essential Commodities Act. Food Controller Bhupendra Mishra stated that the investigation led to the seizure of the commodities, and further monitoring will continue. The Collector has directed all rice millers to deposit their rice with the Civil Supplies Corporation by October 28, 2024. To ensure compliance, the Food Department has been tasked with daily monitoring of rice deposits. It was also ordered that the depot of the Civil Supplies Corporation remain open even on holidays to facilitate the process.
 
During a meeting with district officials, the Sub-Divisional Officer, Assistant Food Officer, and Food Inspector were instructed to take action against any rice millers absent from the meeting. The district marketing officer was also directed to seize the bank guarantees of millers failing to meet their daily rice deposit targets. Additional investigations will be carried out against absent rice millers, including M/s Goyal Harsh, M/s Krishna Foods, M/s Ranulal Gandhi Rice Mill, and M/s Gurunanak Rice Industries. Present at the meeting were the District Food Controller, District Marketing Officer, District Manager of the Civil Supplies Corporation, and various rice millers from the district.
