In a bid to enhance city’s air quality and create a cleaner environment, Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav is making continuous efforts. To accelerate the initiative and ensure further improvement in air quality, Municipal Commissioner Yadav, on Thursday held marathon meetings with officials from various departments to strategise the action plan. During the meetings, she reviewed ongoing efforts of different departments to improve air quality. A comprehensive winter action plan for next 100 days was also presented on the occasion. Other departments were encouraged to participate and contribute to this action plan.
 
The Municipal Commissioner emphasised on the importance of various measures, including imposing spot fines on farmers for burning crop residue and running awareness campaigns to promote use of Happy Seeders. Likewise, instructing Jabalpur City Service Transport Limited to increase the number of EV charging stations as needed. Encouraging the District Civil Supply Department to promote electric and LPG-based tandoors instead of those fueled by wood and coal. Directing the District Transport Department to inspect and take appropriate action against commercial vehicles older than 15 years and ensuring that all vehicles have valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. Instructions were also given for implementing measures to control dust in construction areas using green nets. Important discussions were also held during the meeting of District Level Monitoring and Implementation Committee (DLMIC). Alok Kumar Jain and R K Jain from Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board along with officials from the Regional Transport Department, Town and Country Planning Department, Agriculture Department and Jabalpur City Transport Service Limited held talks to ensure successful implementation of the action plan.
