Auto Cross Motorsports at AVNL Chairman Cup 2024 was inaugurated with a great enthusiasm, on Friday. Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), Chennai, Director, Ramchandran flagged-off the Auto Cross Motorsports in special presence of Madhya Pradesh Tourism, Regional Manager, Jabalpur, Sanjay Malhotra while Sanjeev Kumar Bhola, Chief General Manager, Vehicle Factory Jabalpur presided over the programme. The second edition of AVNL Chairman Cup 2024, featuring Auto Cross Motorsports, Athletics, Kabaddi and Contract Bridge are being organised under the auspices of Vehicle Factory Jabalpur from October 15 to 20.
 
The Auto Cross Motorsports event was inaugurated at VFJ Test Track and will run for two days. Competitors from across the country, including teams from the Indian Army, ITBP, Indian Navy, Defence Employees and various civilian participants, are competing in this event. Besides this, this is the first-ever Truck Auto Cross event will be held for first time in the country.
 
The Motorsports event is officially recognized by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). At the conclusion of the two-day event, winners will be honoured with awards on October 19, 2024. In addition to the motorsports, winners of Athletics, Kabaddi and Contract Bridge competitions were also awarded during a special prize distribution ceremony at VFJ Stadium. Among the dignitaries present were Inspector General of Police (Jabalpur Zone), Anil Singh Kushwaha, CGM IOLMK, Rajiv Mathur, Superintendent of Police, Aditya Pratap Singh, and other senior officials. In Kabaddi, HVF team won the gold medal, VFJ team earned the silver and MTPF team took the bronze. In Contract Bridge (Pair event), VFJ won both gold and silver medals while MTPF secured the bronze. In Contract Bridge (Duplicate event), VFJ team won gold, MTPF won silver and OFMK secured the bronze. In Athletics, the VFJ team won a total of 8 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals while Heavy Vehicle Factory Chennai won 9 gold, 8 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Other participating factories, including the Engine Factory Chennai and the Ordnance Factory Medak also bagged medals. Additionally, a marathon was organized this morning at 6:00 AM in which Rajesh Mahato securing the first position, followed by Pankaj in second and Jitendra in third position. The event was attended by several officials, including Kamlesh Kumar, General Manager, AK Rai, Ashutosh Kumar, Lt. Col. Rupinder Singh, Pranav Priyank, Astha Srivastav, Devashree Chakraborty, SP Kushwaha, Vipul Bajpai, Shailendra Singh, Golu Jharia, Suby Samuel, Rupesh Mishra, Akhileshwar Nema and others. The event was conducted by Shweta Johari Gupta and Mohan Kumar Sahu.
