THE Government on Tuesday launched
the PM Electric Drive Revolution in
Innovative Vehicle
Enhancement (PM EDRIVE) scheme thathas
a financial outlay of Rs
10,900 crore overaperiod of two years.
ThePM-Drivescheme
was approved by the
Union Cabinet, chaired
by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on
September11topromoteelectricmobility in the country. Launching the ambitious scheme, Union Ministerfor Heavy
IndustriesandSteel,HDKumaraswamy,
said this is a landmark day as we transition from the FAME Scheme and the
Electric Vehicle Promotion Scheme
(EMPS)tothePME-DRIVE
scheme.
“On the eve of the 155th
Birth Anniversary of
Mahatma Gandhi, we are
contributing not only to
‘SwachhBharat’ as perthe
clarioncallofPMModibut
also to ‘Swachh Vahan’.
Through this initiative, we fulfil the
Government’s promise to launch the
scheme within 100 days,” said the minister.
