IN LIGHT of the recently
released report by the
Competition Commission of
India (CCI),which highlighted
serious anti-competitive practices bye-commerce giants like
Amazon and Flipkart, the
traders across the country,
under the leadership of
Confederation of All India
Traders (CAIT),are set to
launch a massive nationwide
campaign demanding prosecutionof the secompanies.This
decision was taken recently in
New Delhi during the two-day
National Trade Summit.
More than 350 trade leaders
from all over the country in a
unanimous resolution said
that, “These practices include
deepdiscounting,preferential
treatmenttoselect sellers, and
the violation of competition
norms. The findings further
affirm that these platforms
have been operating in ways
that distort the level playing
field,causingirreparabledamage to lakhs of traders and
retailers.
Therefore, we urge
upon theCCI to takenecessary
action and prosecute both
Amazon and Flipkart without
delay.” AddressingtheSummit,

CAIT Advisor Smriti Irani
emphasizedthesignificantrole
of small traders in the Indian
economy.
Inparallel,theCAIThasalso
decided to launch a transformative initiative aimed at the
upgradation of traders and
small business owners across
India.
The initiative will be
designedtoupliftsmalltraders
andretailersbyprovidingtraining on e-commerce, digital
marketing, and financial literacy, usage of social media to
widen business It will ensure
that Indian traders can leverage technology and new-age
platforms, ensuringtheirbusinessesremaincompetitiveand
future-ready
