Man killed after speeding car rams into roadside kiosk in Ramtek; 4 others hurt

IN A ghastly mishap, a young man was crushed to death and four others, including a policeman and a woman from Nagpur, were seriously injured after a car driven at a high speed by the Divisional Manager of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India rammed into an automobile workshop after hitting a snacks stall near Rakhi Talav Square on Tumsar-Mansar highway in Ramtek area Saturday afternoon. The deceased, Lakhan Shekhar Bhosale (35) was a native of Amanatpur, district Akola. Bhosale, who was staying with his family in Ramtek, used to sell ceramic pots to meet ends.
 
Injured Vishal Kodape (27), Police Constable Ravindra Udaram Meshram (44), Dhananjay Manohar Holkar (27), all residents of Ramtek, and Pragati Aniket Chouke (27), a resident of Chichbhuvan, Nagpur, have been admitted to Mayo Hospital. Cops arrested Muthukumar Ranganathan (56), Divisional Manager, LIC, Nagpur, for rash and negligent driving causing death of Bhosale and injuring four others. The tragedy occured around 1 pm on Tumsar-Mansar highway when Ranganathan, a resident of LIC Colony, Gondia, was coming towards Nagpur. Suddenly, a motorcyclist came in front of his car near Rakhi Talav Chowk. He lost control of his speeding car and hit a snacks stall on the other side of the road. Bhosale, who was eating ‘Panipuri’ came under the car. The car dragged Bhosale up to 30 ft killing him on the spot and then rammed into an automobile workshop injuring two mechanics Kodape and Holkar, constable Meshram and Pragati Chouke seriously. Staff from Ramtek Police Station led by PI Aasaram Shetey arrived at the spot and rushed the injured persons to Sub-District Hospital, Ramtek, from where they were referred to Mayo Hospital. Cops then sent Bhosale's body for autopsy. Ramtek Police arrested car driver Ranganath on charges under Sections 106 (1), 125(a)(b), 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, read with Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and started further investigation.
