Regular winter exams preponed from November 16 to November 11

Taking the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra into consideration, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has finalised the winter examination timetable avoiding the poll dates. RTMNU has started conducting examinations of semesters 2, 4, 6 and 8 of ex-students from October 15. Those will conclude on November 15. RTMNU had fixed date of commencement of regular winter examinations from November 16. “In view of the polls, we have decided to conduct winter examinations for regular students from November 11 instead of November 16. We will conduct semesters 1, 3, 5, 7 of professional examinations between November 11 and November 18.

These examinations will cover less number of students as compared to number of students appearing in other examinations. Since most our examinations centres are the polling centres, those will be occupied for election purpose by the administration. Considering election aspect we have given a gap from November 19 to November 23. The elections will be held on November 20, counting is scheduled on November 23. Our convocation too is scheduled on November 22. Considering all these dates we will start our next phase of examinations from November 23,” elaborated Dr Sanjay Kavishwar, Dean of Commerce and Management who has the charge of Director Board of Examinations and Evaluation, RTMNU. A pre-preparatory meeting of the Principal and the Center Officer regarding the winter examination was held at the Examination Bhawan.

This examination will be conducted at 136 examination centers. The exam department is planning to declare the results of all these winter examinations before December 31. Since the admissions of professional courses are still underway their examinations will be held in January 2025. The centre in-charge have to ensure that the students do not face any kind of problem while writing the examinations. The entire examination should be conducted with focus on students, pointed out Dr Kavishwar.

Postpone convocation: RTMNU to Chancellor

The convocation of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) is scheduled on November 22, 2024. The dates of the important functions are given by Raj Bhavan. Since Assembly elections in the State are scheduled on November 20, and counting on November 23, the university officials feel it would be difficult for them to hold such an important event when most of the staff members are likely to be engaged in the poll duty. According to sources, the university has requested the Chancellor to postpone the convocation in view of the polls.
