Seven athletes of Nagpur District Athletics Association have been selected in the Maharashtra team that will participate in the 39th National Junior Athletics Championship which is going to be held from October 25 to 29 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. The championship is being organised by Odisha State Athletics Association under the auspices of Athletics Federation of India. Samit Tong, Mitali Bhoyar, Arti Bhagat, Harshal Joge, Abhimanyu Kushwaha, Kashish Bhagat and Jhanvi Hirulkar will be part of the Maharashtra team.

 

Tong will compete in the 1500m, Mitali in the 5000m and 3000m. Both are members of Track Star Athletics Club. Aarti (Namhya Foundation) will participate in the 3000m race while Joge of Om Sai Sporting Club, Umred will take part in 1000m race. Khel Foundation’s Kushwaha will showcase his skills in shot put while, Mahatma Gandhi English Medium High School and Junior College’s Kashish Bhagat will feature in the 400m race. Hindu Mulinchi Shala’s Janhvi Hirulkar will take part in 1000m race. Nagpur District Athletics Association President Gurudev Nagarle, Secretary, Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Vice-President Nagesh Sahare, Shekhar Suryawanshi, SJ Anthony, Umesh Naidu, Dr Sanjay Chaudhary, Dr Vibekanand Singh, Jitendra Ghordaddekar, Ramchandra Wani, Archana Kottewar Rajesh Bhute, Chandrabhan Kolte, Dr Brijmohan Singh Rawat, Kamlesh Hinge, Amit Thakur, Umakant Sangode and others wished the athletes luck.
