Assembly elections 462 aspirants take applications for 12 constituencies of district

On the first day of nomination filing for State Assembly polls, 462 aspirants picked applications for 12 Assembly constituencies of Nagpur district. Not a single candidate filed nomination on Tuesday. The nomination process has begun after the notification for the Assembly elections was published on October 22. On the first day of filing nominations, 28 applications were picked from aspirants for Katol Assembly constituency, 18 applications for Saoner Assembly constituency, 24 applications for Hingna Assembly constituency, 35 applications for Umred Assembly constituency, 41 applications for Nagpur South West constituency, 38 applications for Nagpur South, 47 applications for Nagpur East assembly constituency, 99 applications for Nagpur Central, 33 applications for Nagpur West, 52 applications for Nagpur North, 29 applications for Kamptee Assembly constituency, and 18 applications for Ramtek.
No nominations were filed today. Voting for a total of 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly will be held on November 20. The last date for filing nomination papers is October 29, and the scrutiny of applications will be done on October 30. The deadline for withdrawal of applications is November 4.
The candidates can submit
their nomination papers at different centres in city. The poll candidates in the urban constituencies and those in rural ones will have separate centres to submit their nominations.
The candidates of Nagpur South-West Assembly constituency have to submit their nominations at the Office of Subdivisional Officer, Tehsil office. Those interested to contest from South Nagpur will have to submit their papers with
Deputy Collector (Acquisition), first floor, Collectorate; those at Nagpur East will have to file nominations at Sanjay Gandhi Yojana office, first floor, Collectorate.
The candidates of various parties and independent contestants of Nagpur North constituency will have to reach Tehsil Office, Office of EGS, first floor, Collectorate.
For Nagpur Central constituency, the centre has been fixed at Old office of State Excise, Collectorate.
The centre of filing nominations for the Katol constituency is SDO Office, Katol; for Saoner, the centre is SDO office, Saoner. Similarly, candidates contesting from Hingna constituency will have to submit nominations at Tehsil Office, Hingna. SDO office, Umred will be the centre of receipt of nominations for Umred constituency.
Tehsil office, Kamptee and Tehsil office, Ramtek will be the centres of receipt of nominations for Kamptee and Ramtek Assembly constituencies respectively.
On Tuesday the candidates interested to contest polls bought forms at the centres meant for the particular constituency. District Administration vowed to achieve target of 75% voter turnout in the Assembly elections on November 20. The administration will set up a total of 2,158 polling stations in six Assembly constituencies in the city.
Nagpur (North) constituency will feature the most number of polling stations with 407 while Nagpur (Central) will have lowest with 308. Whereas Kamptee constituency has the highest number of polling stations in the district with 524.
The district authorities have also decided to provide all permissions needed by candidates in one place, for which a one window system has been set up for faster processing of the official candidature documents.
