Fortify cybersecurity skills: Commissioner ofPolice Dr Ravinder Kumar Singhal in AARHANT-2024

THE inauguration of
AARHANT’24, the flagship
cybersecurity awareness event
at Ramdeobaba University
(RBU) Nagpur was oraganised
by CSE Cyber Security
Programme- ITSDepartment,
was marked by an
inspiring address from
Commissioner of Police, Dr
Ravinder Kumar Singal.
In his speech, Dr Singhal
motivated students to sharpen their skills in cybersecurity,
a critical field as cyber threats
continue to rise. He recounted the Lebanon pager attack
to illustrate how simple vulnerabilities can lead to widespread damage.
Dr Singhal also
discussed theincreasing threat
of drone-based cyberattacks,
which have emerged as a significant concern for law
enforcement agencies. He
explained how drones can be
used for surveillance, smuggling, or even delivering malicious payloads, posing serious
risks to public safety and
national security.
Dr Singhal emphasised the
importance of developing a
project for advanceddetection
and counter-drone technologies, encouraging students to
focus on innovative solutions
to tackle these evolving threats.
Dr Singhal also shared hispersonal experience managing the extreme rush at theKumbhMela,oneof thelargest
religious gatherings in theworld. He emphasised thecomplexitiesinvolvedinensuringcrowdsafetyandinvitedstudents to bring forward innovative ideas or projects that
could improve the management of large crowds andstrengthen security measuresto prevent both physical andcyber-attacks.
Dr Rashmi Welekar, introduced the line-up of events.
Vice-Chancellor of RBU DrRajesh Pande highlighted theincreasing frequency andsophisticationofcyberattacks.

and Dr Suresh Balpande.
