THE public sector general
insurance (PSGI) employees
stagedlunchhour demonstrations pressing for their long
pending demands in-front of
Regional Office of Oriental
Insurance Company Limited,
situated at Nelson Square,
Koradi Road, Nagpur on
Thursday. They have intensified their agitation as this was
thesecondlunchhourdemonstration in the month of
October in the city.
More than 125 aggrieved
employeesandretiredemployees from nook and corner of
the city participated in the
demonstrations and shouted
slogans condemning the
Department of Financial
Services (DFS), and General
Insurers Public Sector
Association of India (GIPSA).
Similarly, thousandsofPSGI
employees staged lunch hour
demonstrations at major centres across the country.
The
lunch hour demonstrations
werecarried out as percall given by Joint Forum of Trade
UnionsandAssociation(JFTU)
in PSGI companies.
These demonstrations were
carried out demandingimmediate discussion on wage revision due from August 1, 2022.
Apart from this, they demanded uniform 30% family pension, scrapping of National
Pension System (NPS) and
demanded 1995 Pension
Scheme for all, till then an
increase in employer’s contribution to 14% in NPS.
The employees also
demanded strengthening of
PSGI companies, adequate
recruitment and long pending
non-core benefits.
