The Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Super Speciality Hospital was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Koni here on Tuesday. He was the Chief guest while Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Minister of Health Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, MLAs Amar Agrawal, Dharamlal Kaushik, Dharamjit Singh, Shushant Shukla, Atal Shrivastava and Dilip Lahariya were special guests of the programme. The hospital started with OPDs (Outdoor Patients) of four departments and later OPDs of other departments will be opened gradually. With the establishment of wards and ICU (Intensive Care Unit), the hospital will start operating with full setup in the next few months after which, treatment of complex diseases will be possible in this hospital proving to be one of the biggest hospital with international level health care facility for the people in the region in coming days. Currently, the OPDs of Urology, Neuro Surgery, Pulmonology and General Medicine will be operated in the hospital with about 22 new doctors appointed for this. Besides, 13 staff of CIMS including Nursing Superintendents, Nursing Sisters, Staff Nurses, Assistant Office Superintendents, Stenographers, Store Keepers, Attendants and Sweepers has also been appointed in the hospital.
 
In this hospital built under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, facilities of OPD, IPD (Indoor Patient), emergency medical care and intensive medical facilities will be available where patients from Bilaspur division as well as Chhattisgarh and other parts of country will get health facilities at government rates. All the medicines and surgeries related to Cardiology Department and Cardio Thoracic Vascular Surgery, medicines and surgeries related to Nephrology and Urology Department, medicines and surgeries related to Neurology and Neurosurgery Department will be available in the hospital. On Tuesday the 11 storey hospital started with 244 beds including 100 ICUs. Dignitaries including Former MLAs Dr Krishnamurty Bandhi and Harshita Pandey, Additional Chief Secretary Manoj Pingua, District BJP President Ramdev Kumawat, Bhupendra Singh Sawanni, Inspector General of Police Dr Sanjeev Shukla, Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh, doctors, nurses, para-medical staffs, medical students besides large number of people were present on the occasion.
