BSP’s Pushpa Ambrose take part in Eurocoke Global Summit in Vienna

 

 

Pushpa Ambrose, GM (SMS-3) from SAIL- Bhilai Steel Plant represented BSP at the Eurocoke Global Summit 2024, held in Vienna, Austria from September 17 to September 19. Ambrose participated in the global summit as a Keynote Speaker, and shared valuable insights on “Decarbonisation in the Steel Industry through Process Improvement”. It is worth mentioning that Pushpa Ambrose from SAIL-BSP was the only speaker invited from India for this prestigious global summit, aimed at promoting Decarbonisation and Green Coke & Steel production. Experts from around the world discussed breakthrough technologies and process improvements aimed at reducing carbon footprints, as part of the discussions held during the five sessions at the conference. From hydrogen-based steelmaking to carbon capture and storage (CCS), the future of steel is being reshaped. Pushpa Ambrose, GM (SMS-3) presented her Keynote address titled “Decarbonisation in the Steel Industry through Process Improvement” at the summit on September 18, in Session-1 titled ‘Exploring global market trends, forecasts, and Opportunities in steel, coal, and coke’.

 

During the session, Ambrose emphasised how process innovations, such as improved energy efficiency and advanced material usage, can drive Decarbonization. She stated that the Industry’s collective effort to accelerate the transition to greener methods proves that sustainability and profitability can go hand-in-hand. The discussions at the summit reaffirmed the belief that with collaboration and innovation, steel industry can play a leading role in achieving global decarbonisation targets.
