A shocking case of rape has come to light in the Jahangirabad area of the city, where a 16-year-old girl, a 9th standard student, was allegedly raped by her neighbour. The accused, identified as Yashwant, has been arrested by the police under sections of rape and POCSO (Prevention Of Child from Sexual Offences) Act. According to the police, the victim and the accused lived in the same locality and had become friends about a year ago. However, their friendship took a dark turn when Yashwant allegedly raped the girl about a month ago. He then continued to exploit her, threatening to defame her if she didn’t comply with his demands.

 

The victim finally gathered the courage to confide in her family members on Wednesday, who then accompanied her to the police station to file a complaint. The police have registered a case under sections of rape and POCSO Act and have taken the accused into custody. As per information, the accused, Yashwant, is a native of Sehore district and was living in a rented room in the same locality. The police are currently investigating the matter. This incident has sent shockwaves in the community, highlighting the need for increased awareness and vigilance to prevent such heinous crimes. The police have assured that they will take strict action against the accused and ensure justice for the victim.
