New Chief Secy Anurag Jain takes charge

Anurag Jain, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1989 batch, took charge as the 35th Chief Secretary of the State Government at the Secretariat on Thursday. Senior officials presented a bouquet of flowers to Chief Secretary Jain. He replaced the outgoing Chief Secretary, Veera Rana, whose service extension ended on September 30. CS Jain was born on August 11, 1965 in Gwalior. After clearing the civil services examination, his first posting was at the post of Assistant Collector in Sagar in June 1990. He holds a B.Tech in Engineering along with Master of Arts degree in Public Administration from the USA. Tenure of Jain will be till August 2025. Notably, he has a wide spectrum of service experience at Center as well as in State.
 
He held the key role in capacity of Joint Secretary at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) later hold the post in the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways, for three terms in the Modi government. In State, he served prominent role during Kamal Nath as well as Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. When the State was facing financial crunch he was assigned with Finance Department’s Principal Secretary during Congress regime. While in Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, he played the role of Secretary to CM. He has also served as Collector of Mandla, Mandsaur and Bhopal
