Bhoomipujan performed for new Divisional Commissionerate, Collectorate building

Bhoomipujan of new, modern administrative building that will house Divisional Commissionerate and District Collectorate, was performed on Sunday by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways; and Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister in the Collectorate premises.
Nitin Gadkari, in his address,
appreciated the proposed building
and appealed to Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector, to make sure that this building is utilised for efficient completion
of public work. He wished that new
set-up with computerised transparent administration should be utilised
for completion of public works efficiently. Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) is implementing agency for
the construction of new administrative building.
Devendra Fadnavis expressed his proud feeling about the new building in the city. He said, “We are building best infrastructure in the city. The new project is not just beautiful but also sustainable.” He also shed light on how this project was conceptualised, referring to his time in the Opposition when they had to spent considerable time in shuttling around Government offices located miles apart to get the public work done. “Further, we realised that this office is insufficient for practical needs of changing times. Same is the case with Divisional Commissioner’s office.” He also mentioned the suggestion of Gadkari to have space for famous ‘Patodiwala’ in new building.
At the onset, Dr Vipin Itankar informed that the new administrative building is being built at cost of Rs 271.34 crore. It will be completed in two years time. The building will consist of two 12-floor towers that will be connected with each other on four floor via connecting bridges.
The building will have public plaza for use of citizens on the ground floor.

Post Gadkari’s anguish,
Fadnavis lauds Dr
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari rued lack of invitation to Dr Brijesh Dixit, for Kamptee Road fly-over function, saying new officials forgot contribution of their predecessors, a veiled criticism of officials of Maha Metro. Taking cue, a quick thinking Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis got up even as Gadkari’s speech was on felicitated Dr Dixit. Fadnavis said, he is acknowledging role of Dr Dixit in shaping the Nagpur Metro project and also that of Kamptee Road multi-layered transport system.
Gadkari while addressing the gathering heaped praise on Dr Dixit, currently Managing Director, MSIDC. But expressing his anguish, he said it was wrong not to invited Dr Dixit for the dedication programme.
The incident was quite unusual in a public programme and it showed the recognition of Dr Dixit's stature as he is now handling many important assignments as head of the MSIDC.
Gadkari also appreciated Brijesh Dixit, Managing Director, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) for his work on Nagpur Metro. despite latter playing instrumental role in its construction.
