A number of Congress Corporators along with local residents staged protest against the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) and the ruling party in the JMC for failing to fulfil their promises and making false declarations. The Congress Corporators said that six days have already passed since the Navratri festival began, yet the potholes on the city’s main roads have not been repaired. They accused the ruling party in JMC of allegedly planning to waste the approved budget of Rs 3 crore in the name of road repairing for the Dussehra procession. Amrish Mishra, Leader of Opposition in the JMC said the grand Hindu festival of Navratri is going on and tens of thousands of devotees are coming out on roads to have darshan of Maa Durga, but the large potholes on the roads are causing severe problems for both pedestrians and vehicles.

He stated that the Congress corporators have been continuously raising the issue of road construction from Ahimsa Chowk to Kachnar City, demanding the work be started immediately. However, the ruling party of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation seems indifferent to the problems of the general public. Recently, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh inspected city roads and announced a budget of Rs 3 crore to fix the dilapidated condition of the roads. Mishra said due to non-payment for an approved road, incomplete construction is adding to the public's woes. The leaders of ruling party seem to be ignoring the burning issue. Congressmen said city routes from Tularam Chowk to Andherdev, Fuhara, Chautha Pul to Bhainsasur Road, Sneh Nagar, Labor Chowk to M R 4 Road etc are in dilapidated condition. They said the condition of roads prove that the Rs 3 crore budget is allegedly being misused by ruling party in JMC.
