Procurement at 102 centres of 87 co-operative societies in district today

Complete preparations have been made for paddy procurement in the district as per the guidelines of the Government. An estimated 6,48,484 MT of paddy will be procured from 1,14,651 farmers registered in Kharif year 2024-25 through 102 procurement centres of 87 cooperative societies. Last year 5,87,369 MT of paddy was procured from 1,05,778 farmers. Paddy will be procured at the procurement centres from November 14 to January 31 2025 at the support price. The rate for thin paddy is fixed at Rs 2,320, thick paddy at Rs 2,300 and sarna paddy at Rs 2,300 per quintal. On the first day, i.e. 14th November, paddy procurement will commence at 88 procurement centres in the district. 60 thousand quintals of paddy will be procured from 1206 farmers who have received tokens at the said centres. Collector Richa Prakash Chaudhary took stock of the paddy procurement system at the procurement centres of Chandkhuri and Thanaud cooperative societies. She inquired about farmer registration, electronic weighing machine, moisture measuring device, availability of gunny bags, computer and operator, electricity system, CCTV etc.
 
Along with this, she gave necessary guidance to ensure that there is no lapse in the system. The collector also observed the registration of the farmer’s area in the computer and the paddy being sold by him and the surrender of the area. The committee manager of Chandkhuri Cooperative Society informed the collector that 60 thousand 500 quintals of paddy will be purchased from 1142 registered farmers at the Procurement Center Chandkhuri. 55 thousand gunny bags are available at the center. Other necessary preparations have been made. The committee manager of Thanaud Cooperative Society informed that 80 thousand quintals of paddy will be purchased from 1455 registered farmers at Thanaud Procurement Center. 58 thousand gunny bags are available at the center. On November 14, the purchase of 288 quintals of paddy from 4 farmers who have received tokens will begin.
