Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda is being celebrated as National Tribal Pride Day across the country. Tribal Pride Day is an honest effort to rectify a great injustice of history. The Prime Minister said that for the overall welfare of the tribal society, many schemes are being run and work is being done for their economic and social development. Prime Minister Modi was addressing the National Tribal Pride Day organised in Jamui district of Bihar on the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda on Friday.
Prime Minister Modi said that on the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, projects worth more than Rs 6,000 crore have been inaugurated.
He virtually inaugurated Shri Badal Bhoi Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum of Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh and Raja Shankar Shah and Raghunath Shah Freedom Fighter Museum of Jabalpur.
Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla attended the state-level Tribal Pride Day celebrations organised at Shahdol district headquarters of Madhya Pradesh along with other public representatives.
While addressing, Governor Patel said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, unprecedented works of tribal welfare are being done in the entire country. PM Jan Man Yojana and Sickle Cell Eradication Mission are a great campaign for tribal welfare. In this campaign, the state government is doing excellent work for tribal welfare.
Governor Patel said that it is a matter of good fortune for the state that the resolution of Sickle Cell Eradication Mission was taken from the land of Madhya Pradesh.
The central and state governments are carrying out tests and awareness campaigns on an intensive level towards the elimination of sickle cell. So far, sickle cell screening of 82 lakh people has been completed in the state.
Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has said that the right to water, forest and land is the fundamental right of tribal society. The British wanted to snatch it from them. Bhagwan Birsa Munda raised the tribal society against the atrocities and misconduct of the British and fought against the British on two levels. On one hand, he protected the fundamental rights of the tribal society and on the other hand, he demolished the nefarious attempts of Christian missionaries to convert our tribal
brothers into Christians by tampering with our religion.
Chief Minister Dr Yadav said that the tribal society has kept our culture and traditions alive even today.
The tribal society co-operated in the struggle of Lord Shri Ram against Ravana. Lord Krishna used to wear peacock feathers, the tribal society also wears peacock feathers. By remembering Bhagwan Shri Ram, Shri Krishna and Birsa Munda, we get a chance to
connect with the roots of our culture. Today, the Veeran Mala that the people of the tribal society have made me wear is not an ordinary garland, it has special significance.
“No stone will be left unturned in the development and welfare works of the tribal society. The entire country will get the benefit of the river linking campaign. Now Shahdol district will also get water from the Bansagar project. A permanent helipad will be built in Shahdol. Every person will get the benefit of Government facilities. The Government has decided that if any person is injured in an accident and there is an airstrip nearby, he will be taken to the hospital by air for treatment,” CM Yadav said. Governor Patel and Chief Minister Dr Yadav performed bhoomipujan and inauguration of 76 different development works at a cost of Rs 229.66 crore during the state-level program organised in Shahdol on the occasion of Tribal Pride Day.
