Former HM Anil Deshmukh injured in stone-pelting attack in Narkhed

 

 

 

FORMER Home Minister andNationalist Congress Party(NCP) leader Anil Deshmukhon Monday claimed that hewas seriously injured in astone-pelting attack onMonday night. The attacktook place around 8 pm whenDeshmukh was returning tohis hometown Katol afterattending a meeting inNarkhed village, claimedDeshmukh. According to NCP SPleader, a group of assailantstargeted his car near Belphataon the Jalalkheda Road, closeto Katol.

 

Deshmukh sustained injuries from the stones and wasrushed to the Katol Civil Hospital for treatment. Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police, Dr Harssh Poddar saidthat the police are taking the matter seriously. Senior police officials have been dispatched to the scene, and an investigation hasbeen launched to identify the attackers. The incident comes just days before the polling for the stateelections, where Deshmukh’s son, Salil Deshmukh, is contestingthe Katol Assembly seat as an NCP candidate.
