NSUI opposes appointment

Staff Reporter :

members of National Students Union of India (NSUI), on Thursday created a tense and objectionable scene in the Rani Durgawati University (RDU) Vice Chancellor’s chamber by dumping currency notes on his desk and demanding his immediate ouster. NSUI leaders alleged that despite being ineligible, Professor Rajesh Kumar Verma got appointed as Vice Chancellor on the basis of money power. Led by NSUI District President, Sachin Rajak, a large number of members entered the conference hall in the university campus and created a ruckus, opened the bag full of notes in front of the Vice Chancellor and presented him money. District President Rajak alleged that due to administrative inaction in the university, students’ problems are being ignored continuously. The examinations’ results are not declared on time. Students are dissatisfied with their results, discrepancies are there in the timetable of examinations released by the university, the quality of research activities continuously falling down, etc.

Even Madhya Pradesh Governor who is the Chancellor of University also mentioned about the delay in examination results. Rajak further alleged that appointment of an incompetent Vice-chancellor, is the sole reason behind all these discrepancies. He added that recently, the NSUI State President has made it public in Bhopal that Professor Verma’s appointment to his original post i.e. the post of Professor is illegal and has been done against the norms set by the UGC. Professor Verma had zero experience as a research director. Rajak further alleged that on what basis will a person, whose appointment was done by flouting the UGC’s rules, be able to run the university according to the rules. Ultimately the students have to bear the brunt of it. Those who present during protest included State Vice-President Amit Mishra, Saurabh Gautam, Nilesh Maher and others.
