Pune’s Swara stuns Mishka for title Shivraj Bhosale to take on Bhargav Vaidya in boys final today

PUNE’S Swara Javale broke Nagpurians’ heart as she clinched the girls singles title defeating city-lass Mishka Tayade on the penultimate day of MSLTA-NDHTA All India Ranking Under-16 Tennis Tournament. In the Under-16 eves’ final, Pune girl Swara, seeded second, produced her ‘A’ game as she took the first set 6-3. Top seed Mishka tried hard in the second set but Swara was well prepared for her opponent as she dominated the set to take it 6-2 and the title in the process. Nagpur’s hopes now rests on Shivraj Bhosale who will take on Bhargav Vaidya in the final on Friday. In the semi-final Bhosale defeated Vishwas Chandrasekaran 6-1, 6-2 while Vaidya got the better of Neil Ambekar 6-2, 6-3. In the boys doubles it will be an all-Nagpur affair.

Pranav Gaikwad and Dhruv Mor beat Neil Ambekar and Heramba Pohane in straight sets, whereas Bhavya Porwal and Shivraj Bhonsle beat Vishwas Chandrasekaran and Vedanta Kulkarni also in straight sets. Trophies along with certificates were given away to girls by NDHTA Vice-President Ashok Bhiwapurkar and Joint Secretary Vikram Naidu. Results: Boys singles semi-finals: Bhargav Vaidya bt Neil Ambekar 6-2, 6-3; Shivraj Bhosale bt Vishwas Chandrasekaran 6-1, 6-2. Girls Finals: Swara Javale bt Mishka Tayade 6-3, 6-2. Boys Doubles semi-finals: Pranav Gaikwad and Dhruv Mor bt Heramba Pohane and Neil Ambekar 6-2, 6-3; Bhavya Porwal and Shivraj Bhosale bt Vishwas Chandrasekaran and Vedant Kulkarni 6-3, 6-1.
