Voter Turnout: Ramtek tops district with 71.80%, Nagpur (South-West) sees lowest 54.59%

The collective efforts bore fruit as Nagpur district, which has 12 Assembly constituencies, registered 61.60 per cent voter turnout, revealed the final data shared by the administration on Thursday. This was the highest for the district in all the previous State Legislative Assembly elections since 2009. Among 12 constituencies, Ramtek topped the chart with 71.80 per cent voter turnout while Nagpur (South-West) was at the bottom of the chart with only 54.59 per cent of voters exercising their franchise. The general trend of the rural voters outshining their urban counterparts remained unchanged this time also. The polling (57.02 per cent) in all six Assembly constituencies in Nagpur city was lesser than that (66.78 per cent) in the six constituencies in rural parts of the district. The city’s average polling was below the average polling for the entire district -- 61.60 per cent. Compared to that in Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year, the voter turnout has come down in Nagpur (South-West) and Nagpur Central Assembly segments. The voter turnout in Nagpur (South-West) segment was 59.40 per cent in Lok Sabha polls, and it has come down to 54.59 per cent in Assembly elections now. In Nagpur Central segment, voter turnout has declined from 64 per cent in Lok Sabha polls, to 57.17 per cent now.
 
However, polling percentage in other four Assembly segments in Nagpur city registered increase now as compared to voter turnout in Lok Sabha elections. These four constituencies include Nagpur (South) -- from 53.95 per cent in Lok Sabha polls to 56.99 per cent now; Nagpur (East) -- from 55.70 per cent to 59.42 per cent; Nagpur (West) -- from 53.40 per cent to 55.78 per cent; and Nagpur (North) -- from 55.20 per cent in Lok Sabha pNagpur city registers 57.02% polling Among the six constituencies in Nagpur city, Nagpur (East) constituency registered the highest voter turnout of 59.42 per cent. It came closest to match the district’s average voter turnout. Of a total 4,18,981 voters, 2,48,952 exercised their franchise. Those who voted on Wednesday consisted of 1,27,017 male voters, and 1,21,929 female voters as well as 6 other voters.
 
The all important Nagpur (South-West) constituency witnessed 2,24,517 out of 4,11,241 total voters coming out to vote. The voters consisted 1,11,099 out of 2,02,298 male voters; 1,13,415 out of 2,08,914 female voters, and three out of 29 Other voters. However, the voter turnout in this constituency, which is being watched keenly across the State, was only 54.59 per cent, which was also the lowest among 12 constituencies in the district. Further, this constituency saw the lowest voter turnout among 62 Assembly constituencies in entire Vidarbha region. Nagpur (North) constituency with 58.05 per cent voter turnout saw the second-highest voting in city. Of total 4,28,845 voters, 2,48,952 voted for their preferred candidate. Of total 2,12,989 male voters, 1,25,755 went to the respective polling booth; and 1,23,181 out of total 2,15,752 female voters also discharged their national duty. Wednesday night, registered 57.17 per cent voter turnout, with 1,95,060 out of 3,41,169 registered voters going to the respective polling booth. Of total 1,68,107 male voters, 1,00,161 polled their vote. Of 1,73,022 female voters, 94,888 voted in favour of the candidate of their choice. Besides, 11 out of 40 Other voters also voted. Nagpur (South) constituency witnessed 2,24,793 voters coming out to vote out of 3,94,425 total voters, thus registering 56.99 per cent voter turnout. In all, 57.86 per cent male voters (1,12,135 out of total 1,93,782), and 56.14 per cent female voters (1,12,656 out of total 2,00,635) along with two out of eight Other voters chose to exercise their franchise. The final voter turnout was 55.78 per cent in Nagpur (West) constituency with 1,08,066 out of 1,92,075 male voters, and 1,08,549 out of 1,96,075 female voters, along with 10 out of 31 Other voters exercising their franchise in the elections.
