The counting took place at St Francis De Sales College in Seminary Hills, where a large number of party workers had gathered from the morning. A significant number of police personnel were deployed for security arrangements. Throughout the counting process, Thakre’s supporters were confident about his victory, as he maintained the lead. When the 26th and final round was announced, it became clear that Thakre was the winner, and his supporters began celebrating.

Thakre received 104,144 votes across 26 rounds, while his rival, Sudhakar Kohale, garnered 98,320 votes. Congress’s expelled leader and Independent candidate Narendra Jichkar received just 8,166 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party’s Prakash Gajbhiye received 3,482 votes, and Yash Gaurkhede of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi secured 1,471 votes. In the 2019 elections, Thakre had received 83,252 votes, while BJP’s Sudhakar Deshmukh had received 76,885 votes. This shows that both the Congress and BJP candidates saw an increase in their vote counts in the 2024 elections compared to 2019, but the margin between them remained similar. The West Nagpur Assembly constituency recorded a notable 51.89% voter turnout in this election, which is a 2% increase compared to the previous Assembly elections. The constituency has a total of 388,353 voters. In 2019, the turnout was 49.3%, and in 2014, it was 52.2%. The recent Lok Sabha elections saw a 53.4% turnout in the region. Among the voters, 192,075 are male, 196,247 are female, and 31 are from the third-gender category.
