A MOBILE van was launched on
Monday to create awareness for
controlling spread of Bollworm
on cotton crop. The van was
launched by Confederation of
Indian Textile Industries, Cotton
Development and Research
Association (CITI CDRA) Mumbai
here in the city.
Dr C D Mayee of Agrovision
Foundation, was chief guest of
the inaugural function. Special
guest was Dr Yashwant Gadakh,
Vice Chancellor PDKV Akola,
while Dr Y G Prasad, Director
CICR, Nagpur, Dr Pandian,
Incharge GTC Central Institute for
Research on Cotton Technology,
Nagpur, Ravindra Manohre,
District Superintendent
Agriculture Officer Nagpur, and
Dr Archana Kadu, Project Director
Atma Nagpur, were also present.

significant damage to crops. The
most common variety is the cotton pink bollworm, also known
as PBW or gulabi sundhi.
The van was flagged off by dignitaries. The route of the mobile
van called ‘Janajagruti Rath’ will
pass through five districts namely Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur,
Yavatmal, Amravati covering 160
villages. During its tour, farmers
will be provided detail information on the topic.
