Staff Reporter :
THE rumour about the
resignation by Nana
Patole as the
Maharashtra Pradesh
Congress Chief following the party’s poor
show in the recently
concluded Assembly polls
floated around on Monday.
When ‘The Hitavada’ tried
to contact Nana Patole, his
cellphone was switched off.
When this reporter contacted Vikas Thakre, the newly-elected MLA and Congress
City Chief, he strongly denied
any such development.
The rumours were doing
rounds on the social media
since Monday afternoon about
Nana Patole resigning as
MPCC Chief. Rumours were
also spread about Patole submitting his resignation to the
party high command
who later did not
accept the same.
“Patole hasn’t
resigned at all, so no
question arises as to
whether high command accepted it or
rejected,” claimed
Vikas Thakre.
The Mahayuti registered an
impressive win in the
Maharashtra elections, securing 230 of the 288 seats while
Maha Vikas Aaghadi could
secure only 46 seats.
Congress was handed a
beating by the ruling NDA in
Maharashtra as the grand old
party could win just 16 of the
103 seats it contested.
Nana Patole, who contested from Bhandara’s Sakoli constituency could, somehow,
manage to win the seat by a
margin of mere 208 votes.
