Badkas to continue as Secretary; 4 in fray for 3 Sr selectors’ post

INCUMBENT Vidarbha Cricket Association President Justice (Retd) Vinay Deshpande and Secretary Sanjay Badkas have been elected unopposed along with the entire body except for the senior selectors.
Deshpande and Badkas will lead the new team for further three years. Among the five office-bearers, Dr Avinash Deshmukh and Treasurer CA Arjun Phatak held on to their respective posts of Vice-President and Treasurer while Gautam Kale replaced Chandrakant Manke as the new Joint Secretary.
Adv Anand Deshpande made way for Alhad Gokhale as new Executive Committee Member.
The Junior Selection Committee has been overhauled and the trio of Chandrashekhar Atram, Mangesh Samdulkar and Mukund Pande will replace Manoj Gogte, P Vivek and Ruchit Bhalla.
Women’s Selection Committee will also have all new faces in Samiksha Shende, Priyanka Hadke and Rupali Naik. They take the baton from Nilima Sonkamble, Aparna Saha and Seema Katakwar.
There will be fight among four candidates for the three posts of Senior Selectors. Fate of P Vivek, Jayesh Dongaonkar, Sudhir Wankhede and Yogesh Ghare will be known on December 8, the voting day. VCA AGM is scheduled for December 3.
The Election process was conducted by JS Saharia, Election Officer and former Chief Election Commissioner of Maharashtra.
