An awareness programme on the ‘Prohibition of Child Marriages’ was held under the ‘Hum Honge Kamyab’ campaign, organised by the Women and Child Development Department’s CDPO Akhilesh, in collaboration with the Anganwadi Center, Ban Ganga Project, and Muskaan Organisation. The objective of the programme was to raise awareness in the community about the legal provisions related to child marriage, its harmful effects, and preventive measures. Additionally, the program aimed to empower adolescent girls and women by providing them with information about their rights. The programme began under the guidance of the CDPO, with the Muskaan Organisation team welcoming all participants and initiating a discussion on the issue of child marriage. The key provisions of the Child Marriage Prohibition Act (2006) were explained, and discussions were held on the adverse effects of child marriage on health, education, and mental well-being.

The role of Anganwadi workers in preventing child marriage was discussed in detail. The workers were informed about how they can help spread awareness in the community, report instances of child marriage, and provide counseling to families. Adolescent girls shared their thoughts on the community’s role in preventing child marriage. They ensured their active participation by signing a ‘Khullar Seal’ during the programme. The programme also included a discussion on potential rehabilitation plans for girls affected by child marriage and providing them with a safe future. The programme was attended by Supervisor Renu, Anganwadi workers, and adolescent girls.
